The Col du Mollard is in the municipality of Albiez-Montrond, a traditional village resort.
The riders of the Tour de France came over the pass in 2006.

Lying at 1638 m, the pass is the gateway to the hamlet of “Le Mollard”, which forms the upper part of the village of Albiez-Montrond. The Col offers wonderful panoramic views of the Sybelles Arvan-Villards area, taking in the Albiez plateau with the lower part of Albiez-Montrond, the meadows and village of Albiez-Le-Jeune, Mont Emy, the majestic Aiguilles d'Arves, the glacier of the Pic de l’Etendard, the impressive Genin ravine, some of the hamlets of St Jean d'Arves and the resorts of Le Corbier and La Toussuire.
On arriving at the Col du Mollard you will find:
- A fountain where you can fill your water bottles with cool spring water
- A riding centre with dressage area, open in summer
- A leisure complex, on the other side of the road, with lake and swimming pool (with lifeguards), toilets, pétanque courts, playground and picnic area.
The hamlet of Le Mollard, next to the pass, has restaurants, a grocery store and accommodation.

There are three ways of cycling up to the Col du Mollard:
- The “warm up”: A four-kilometre ascent, starting from the hamlet of La Cochette (park next to the chapel). This option can be combined with option three.
- The “Albiez-Montrond” route: Start in St Jean de Maurienne, climb to the Col du Mollard (approx. 17 km): route with timing system.
- The “Mollard panoramic loop”: Start in St Jean de Maurienne, climb to the Col du Mollard, then descend the other side of the pass (not timed after the Col du Mollard). Go through La Villette and La Saussaz, then continue past Montrond and the dam at Belleville. From the dam, follow the D926 back to St Jean de Maurienne.

Another possibility is to take the D80 from Villargondran to Albiez-le-Jeune, and then follow signs for Albiez-Montrond to the Col du Mollard.

Timing chips can be bought or rented at tourist offices. The Les Albiez tourist office is in the “Chef-Lieu” of Albiez-Montrond. Tel: 04 79 50 30 48.
